It’s This, or Something Greater

How many times have we thought that the current situation was the worst thing to happen to us?  Omg how am I going to move on from this? What now?  Why is this happening to me?  It could be a relationship ending, not getting a job or into a certain school, or really anything in life that doesn’t work out.  But what if it’s not happening to us, it’s happening for us.

I’ve been there.  I’ve thought that my world was over so many times throughout my life.  But every time the universe ended up giving me something so much better.  I’ve been in relationships where I thought that was it.  My search was over.  When they ended I was devastated-now what?  I couldn’t see past that situation and see that the universe was helping me out.  It was happening for me.  Now I look back and think, “omg, what the hell was I thinking even dating that guy?”.  When I look at my amazing husband it all makes sense.  Those relationships didn’t work because the universe had something greater in mind.  I thank God every day that it didn’t work with anyone else, because I wouldn’t have this life I have now with my husband.

Before becoming a nurse I was taking classes to try to get into a social work program.  Even with great grades, I got rejected.  Once again, I thought my world was over.  Now what?  Well, I ended up going to nursing school.  I got a job and met some amazing people and friends I would have never met if I would have gotten accepted to that social work program.  I wouldn’t have any of the experiences that I ended up having and I probably wouldn’t be writing to you today.  Not getting into that program happened for me.

A lot of times the universe has something better planned for us, we just can’t see it yet.  It takes time.  When I look back on my life and think, “Ah, I get it now.”, I realize that that “thing” that I thought was happening to me actually was a great gift that happened for me.  So now when I find myself in these types of situations, I remind myself: it’s this, or something greater and I look forward to when that something greater reveals itself to me.
